Shaping a Heart in the Flame
By By Helen Simon

1- After winding on about ¾” of Periwinkle glass, I added more to the right side to make a cone shape, fixing the bottom (left), making sure it had plenty glass to prevent a thin edge. |
2- I gently pressed the cone into a heart shape…not too hard. |
3- Heating each shoulder, I use gravity to shape the shoulders. |
4- Again, I gently press extra glass down onto the bottom, rolling the bead on the marver. |
5- I add extra glass to each shoulder. |
6- Flattening and rolling each side finishes the Heart. |
7- Although it’s a Heart now, I added some embellishment, which I’ll show you later. She’s incubating in the kiln now. |
